2 Utah men accused of setting booby traps along popular trail face felony charges
By The Associated Press

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) ' Two Utah men accused of setting potentially lethal booby traps along a popular hiking trail have been charged with felony aggravated assault.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/K0KIE7 ) that 19-year-old Benjamin Rutkowski, of Orem, and 21-year-old Kai Christensen, of Provo, await a June 13 court appearance after being charged in 4th District Court this week.

According to court documents, the men built two traps around a shelter along the Big Springs trail in Provo Canyon, about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. One involved a suspended ball of rocks and sticks that would swing at the face of a person who triggered a trip wire. A trip wire at another entrance could have caused someone to fall on sharpened sticks.
