By The Associated Press

CORONA, Calif. (AP) ' Authorities say two people are dead after a small aircraft crashed in Southern California's Cleveland National Forest.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says both people on board were killed when the plane crashed in the forest near Corona on Saturday, and the plane caught fire on impact.

The Riverside Press-Enterprise says the crash also led to a small brushfire, and firefighters from Corona, the U.S. Forest Service and the California Department of Corrections quickly surrounded it.

Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board are headed to the site and will lead the investigation.

Authorities did not immediately release the type and destination of the aircraft, or any information about the two dead.
