6 fake Democrats force Wisconsin primaries in recalls targeting incumbent Republicans
MADISON, Wis. (AP) ' Six primaries mark the beginning of a busy several weeks of elections across Wisconsin that will determine which party controls the state Senate.
Nine senators are targeted for recall elections based on their actions related to Gov. Scott Walker's proposal taking away most collective bargaining rights from nearly all public workers.
Tuesday's primaries are for Democrats running to take on six Republican incumbents on Aug. 9. But six of the Democrats are really Republicans who ran to delay the election for a month.
Democrats decried the move, saying it confuses voters and forces primaries that otherwise wouldn't have been necessary.
Republicans can vote in the Democratic primaries. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. There was no official turnout prediction.
