AP Exclusive: Jeb Bush urged Scott to push vouchers, weigh online taxes, release older inmates
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) ' Newly released email documents show former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush offered that state's incoming governor a long list of "lessons learned through trial and error" on everything from how to deal with those guarding his safety to telling him it is "OK to veto stupid bills."
The documents, obtained by The Associated Press after they had been kept out of public view for months, reveal that Bush urged now-Gov. Rick Scott to push for universal private school vouchers, save money by releasing elderly prisoners and close down one of the state pension plans.
Bush wrote his fellow Republican to "take them for what they are...a desire that you succeed."
Scott, a former hospital chain CEO who had never held office, was sworn in Jan. 4.
He didn't respond immediately to calls for comment Wednesday.
