AP Exclusive: Iran letter shows 'charm offensive'
AP Exclusive: Iranian tone in offer to talk with world powers reflects new 'charm offensive.'
By The Associated Press

VIENNA (AP) ' A confidential letter from Iran is offering new talks with six world powers and suggests that Tehran may even be ready to touch on some nuclear issues that were previously taboo.

The letter shared with The Associated Press is short on details of what the Islamic Republic is ready to discuss with the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. But it says Iran is "ready to cooperate in ... nonproliferation and peaceful nuclear cooperation."

That's a possible nod to six-power demands that the Islamic Republic address suspicions that its nuclear program could used to make weapons ' something Tehran has up to now refused to.

Diplomats who asked for anonymity Tuesday because their information was privileged described it as part of efforts to blunt International pressure on Iran.
