APNewsBreak: GOP says US may need force vs. Iran
APNewsBreak: Senate GOP leader sets conditions for using US military force against Iran
By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) ' The Senate Republican leader says the U.S. should use overwhelming military force against Iran if American intelligence shows Tehran has decided to develop a nuclear weapon or it has started to enrich uranium to weapons-grade level.

Sen. Mitch McConnell says in a speech to be delivered Monday night to a pro-Israel lobby that if U.S. intelligence presents either assessment to Congress, he would consult with the president and the joint congressional leadership on legislation authorizing the use of force.

The Kentucky lawmaker said President Barack Obama's repeated pronouncements that "all options are on the table" has done little to dissuade Iran in its disputed nuclear development program.

The Associated Press obtained a copy of McConnell's speech. Congressional leaders are scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (neh-ten-YAH'-hoo) Tuesday.
