APNewsBreak: Woman faces terrorism-related charge
APNewsBreak: OC woman charged with providing money to fund terrorist attacks on US military
By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) ' An Orange County woman has been indicted on federal charges accusing her of sending money to Pakistan to help fund terrorist attacks against U.S. military personnel.

Thom Mrozek, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles, says Oytun Ayse Mihalik was charged Wednesday with three counts of providing material support to terrorists and one count of making a false statement. If convicted of all counts, Mihalik faces up to 53 years in prison.

Federal prosecutors say Mihalik funneled about $2,000 to a person in Pakistan, knowing the money would be used to prepare for and carry out attacks against the U.S. military and others overseas.

Mihalik was arrested in August after she attempted to board a flight to her native Turkey. She had previously pleaded not guilty to the false statement charge.

An email message left with her attorney, Alan Eisner, was not immediately returned.
