Accused NYC madam due in court Mon.; spotlight on her finances, atty's role in case
NEW YORK (AP) ' A suburban mother suspected of running a high-priced Manhattan brothel is due back in court ' and this time, her lawyers are the focus.
Anna Gristina is due in a Manhattan court Monday.
A judge wants to scrutinize her finances to see whether she should continue to get a court-paid defense.
The judge also wants to clarify the role one of her lawyers, Peter Gleason, is playing in the case. The judge has said he's troubled that Gleason spoke to the media about the case without filing court paperwork to sign on officially as her attorney.
Gleason declined to comment Sunday. Defense and civil rights lawyer Ronald Kuby says he'll be in court Monday on Gleason's behalf.
Gristina has pleaded not guilty to promoting prostitution.
