Activists: Syrian rebels attack army truck, kill 2 soldiers in Hama province
BEIRUT (AP) ' A Syrian activist group says rebels have attacked an army truck in a flashpoint central province, killing two soldiers.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the attack took place on Thursday in Hama province. The truck was taking the soldiers north of the provincial capital, Hama.
The group also reports fresh clashes in the country's north and south.
The uprising against President Bashar Assad's regime has become increasingly militarized since it started last March. The U.N. says more than 9,000 people have been killed.
International diplomacy has failed to stop the violence. Arab leaders discussing Syria at a Baghdad summit are expected to call for a cease-fire and an immediate daily two-hour stop in the fighting to permit aid to stricken areas.
