Mass. man to plead guilty to economic espionage targeting Akamai
BOSTON (AP) ' Federal prosecutors say a Massachusetts man has agreed to plead guilty to a charge of foreign economic espionage for providing trade secrets from the company where he worked to an undercover FBI agent posing as an Israeli intelligence officer.
Prosecutors said Thursday that 42-year-old Elliot Doxer will admit to allegations that he provided trade secrets from website content delivery company Akamai Technologies Inc. to a person he believed was an Israeli spy for more than 18 months. A plea hearing is scheduled for Aug. 29.
Doxer, of Brookline, was arrested in August and charged with one count of wire fraud. That charge will be dismissed.
The espionage charge carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, a three-year term of supervised release and a $500,000 fine.
