Amtrak Downeaster trains running a day after crash
Amtrak Downeaster back on schedule between Maine and Boston, a day after crash left 1 dead
By The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) ' Amtrak's Downeaster train is rolling again between Maine and Boston, a day after a fiery collision left one person dead.

On Monday, a Downeaster train hit a tractor trailer truck at a crossing in North Berwick, Maine, killing the truck driver.

The locomotive and a tractor-trailer both caught fire.

There were 112 people on the train. Four passengers and two crew members suffered minor injuries.

Patricia Quinn of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority says Tuesday's 5:45 a.m. train left Portland on schedule and an 8 a.m. train is ready to go.

She says the speed through a section of track near the crash site will be 10 mph, so delays are possible.

The Downeaster runs between Portland and Boston, serving nearly 1,400 passengers each day.
