Arizona lawmaker says pointing her gun at newspaper reporter during interview was inadvertent
By The Associated Press

PHOENIX (AP) ' The chairman of the Arizona Senate's ethics committee says he doesn't plan any action regarding a fellow lawmaker who has acknowledged pointing her gun at a newspaper reporter during an interview.

Democratic Sen. Steve Gallardo of Phoenix said an ethics probe is not warranted concerning the June incident involving Republican Sen. Lori Klein of Anthem.

Klein has said she inadvertently pointed the gun at the reporter as she demonstrated the gun's laser sight. Accounts by the reporter and Klein vary on exactly how that happened.

Ethics Committee Chairman Ron Gould says no action is warranted because the reporter hasn't complained.

The Lake Havasu City Republican also says Klein apparently violated a key tenet of gun safety, but there's no indication that she acted with malice.
