Ark. police: sister responsible for boy's shooting
Police say 9-year-old girl responsible for shooting brother, 7, in Arkansas while parents out
By The Associated Press

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) ' Police say a 9-year-old girl was responsible for the shooting death of her 7-year-old brother at the family's Arkansas apartment while their parents were out signing paperwork at a leasing office.

Little Rock Police Sgt. Cassandra Davis says Tuesday that the girl initially told authorities two men entered the apartment Monday and shot her brother. But there were no signs of forced entry and the girl's father told investigators she has autism and often tells stories.

Police say conversations with the girl led them to believe she was responsible for the shooting.

Davis declined to discuss what the girl said. She also refused to talk about the specifics of the shooting, including whether authorities thought it was an accident.

A prosecutor declined to talk specifically about the case.
