Armstrong 'gratified' by no charges in doping case
Prosecutors won't charge cyclist Lance Armstrong; Tour de France champ says its right decision

LOS ANGELES (AP) ' Lance Armstrong says he's "gratified" the U.S. attorney's office has decided not to bring charges against him after a nearly two-year investigation into whether the champion cyclist and his teammates ran a doping program.

Armstrong released a statement Friday evening, hours after U.S. Attorney Andr Birotte Jr. announced the investigation of Armstrong was closed.

The seven-time Tour de France winner says "it is the right decision."



He adds: "I look forward to continuing my life as a father, a competitor, and an advocate in the fight against cancer without this distraction."
