At least 1 dead in 2 small planes crashes north of Denver; witness said 1 plane lost wing
By The Associated Press

LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) ' At least one person has died in the crash of two small planes north of Denver near Longmont.

A Longmont police commander says the planes went down about six miles apart. It wasn't immediately clear if they were related.

One plane went down near a small airport outside the city and the other crashed near a Walmart near a major intersection in Longmont.

Authorities say that plane was so badly damaged they couldn't tell what kind of aircraft it was. The deputy chief of the Mountain View Fire District says there was likely no chance of survival and it wasn't clear how many were on board.

A witness who says he saw that plane before it crashed told KUSA-TV that it was missing a wing.
