At least 10 Atlantic City casinos closing Friday
At least 10 of Atlantic City's 11 casinos closing Friday as Hurricane Irene moves closer
By The Associated Press

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) ' At least 10 of Atlantic City's 11 casinos are shutting down as Hurricane Irene moves toward the resort city and the rest of New Jersey.

Officials say the 10 are planning to close by 8 p.m. Friday. Workers there were told not to report to duty for shifts scheduled to start after 4 p.m.

It was not immediately clear whether or when the 11th casino, The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, would shut down.

The city's casinos have shut down only twice before, in 1985 for Hurricane Gloria and in 2006 because of a state government shutdown.
