Attorney: Grand jury delayed in NYC bomb plot case
Delay before NYC bomb plot case goes to grand jury is agreed upon; deadline had been Monday
By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) ' A defense lawyer says she and prosecutors have agreed to delay having a grand jury weigh in on a terrorism case against a New York City man charged with a bomb plot.

Jose Pimentel had been scheduled to learn Monday whether he'd been indicted. But defense attorney Lori Cohen says a legal deadline is being waived for about a month.

Cohen says she and prosecutors agree "this is not the case to rush into the grand jury."

The Manhattan district attorney's office is declining to comment.

Pimentel is being held without bail on charges including conspiracy and weapons possession as terror crimes.

State law limits how long someone charged with a felony can be held without an indictment or hearing, but it's not uncommon for the timeframe to be extended.
