Weather service predicts big hail, damaging winds in Okla., Texas; heavy rain elsewhere
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) ' Baseball-sized hail and damaging winds are in the forecast for parts of Oklahoma and Texas the day after two tornadoes damaged homes in Nebraska.
Meteorologists at the National Weather Center's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., say Monday's severe weather is mostly expected to affect southeast Oklahoma and central and northern Texas.
But the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management is preparing teams to respond to floods expected to result from heavy rain. Spokesman Tommy Jackson says drivers need to be careful of water on the road. He says, "turn around and don't drown."
Severe weather in the Midwest spawned at least two tornadoes Sunday night in central Nebraska. Bill Taylor of the National Weather Service says the tornadoes damaged several homes and derailed train cars in North Platte.
