Benicio del Toro screens directorial debut in Havana, says he hopes to direct again
HAVANA (AP) ' Benicio del Toro says the artistic collaboration that went into his directorial debut in the movie "Seven Days in Havana" was so gratifying that he plans to keep working behind the camera.
The Puerto Rican actor says working with actors and others "motivates me to dream of trying it again."
"Seven Days" is made up of seven shorts that take place on different days of the week and show different visions of Cuban society.
Del Toro directed the first short: "The Yuma," Cuban slang for "The American."
It stars Josh Hutcherson and tells the story of a young American who travels to Havana for the city's annual film festival, where "Seven Days" has been screening this week.
Del Toro spoke Friday evening at a news conference in Havana.
