Biologists free juvenile great horned owl that got tangled in Mass. soccer net
By The Associated Press

WESTON, Mass. (AP) A juvenile great horned owl that got tangled in a soccer net behind a Massachusetts home has been rescued.

The MetroWest Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/Oq5VXQ) it took state wildlife biologists and Weston's animal control officer about 20 minutes to free the owl on Wednesday.

Biologist Tom French says the owl suffered some superficial bruising to its chest.

The owl likely will spend about a week at a Tufts University veterinary school in nearby Grafton before being released into the wild.

The owl was spotted by a pest control worker at the property in Weston on Wednesday afternoon. French says the owl is nocturnal and likely flew into the net on Tuesday night.
