Board rejects pardon in US faked-address case
Board rejects pardon for US woman who falsified address to enroll kids in suburban district
By The Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ' The Ohio Parole Board has recommended that the governor not pardon a woman who falsified records so her daughters could attend a school outside their district.

Kelley Williams-Bolar is a single mother from Akron. She served nine days in jail after using her father's address to enroll her children in the neighboring district.

Prosecutors say Williams-Bolar willingly broke the law by using the address and misrepresenting other information on school documents for Copley-Fairlawn district.

Williams-Bolar says her main concern was safety.

The case drew national attention as an example of schools getting tougher on parents who improperly send their children to districts with better-funded and higher-performing schools.
