Boat passenger feared death in Philly river crash
Witness: Boat riders never told to don life preservers before crash with barge on Philly river
By The Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ' A passenger on a sightseeing tour boat says she feared for her life after the vessel was overrun by a barge on the Delaware River in Philadelphia.

Alysia Petchulat testified in court Monday about the accident that killed two Hungarian tourists. The victims' families are suing the companies involved in the crash.

Petchulat says duck boat riders seemed jovial as they waited for a tow in the minutes after their vessel stalled.

But she says no one was told to don life preservers as a tug-guided barge bore down on their boat. She says she feared death after the crash threw her into the dark river.

Attorneys for tug operator K-Sea Transportation and duck boat operator Ride the Ducks each blame the other for causing the July 2010 crash.
