Body may be Colorado mom who ran escort service
Colo. authorities say they await DNA proof that remains are missing mom who ran escort service
By The Associated Press

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) ' Colorado investigators say they're waiting for DNA tests to confirm that skeletal remains are those of a missing mother of three who ran an escort service, unbeknownst to many of her friends.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says the remains have been tentatively identified as 34-year-old Paige Birgfeld, of Grand Junction, who disappeared in 2007.

A hiker found the remains Tuesday in a dry creek bed in neighboring Delta County, an area of western Colorado that was searched after Birgfeld disappeared. It's being searched again.

Friends knew Birgfeld as a devoted single mother who sold kitchen products and did other odd jobs. Authorities say she also ran an escort service.

In October 2007, investigators identified Lester Ralph Jones as a suspect, but nobody has been arrested.
