Brit suspect 'Fast Eddie' to be deported from US
British robbery suspect 'Fast Eddie' agrees to be deported from Missouri to face UK charges
By The Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) ' A man wanted in his native England in connection with an armored van heist almost 20 years ago has agreed to be deported from Missouri.

A federal magistrate on Friday approved Edward Maher's transfer to U.S. immigration officials, but did not provide a timetable.

Maher is accused in the 1993 robbery of a security van that netted the thieves a haul of British currency worth about $1.5 million at that time.

Maher, dubbed "Fast Eddie" by British media, evaded capture for almost two decades until he was arrested in February in Ozark, where authorities say he was living under his brother's name. Since then he has been in custody in Springfield on federal charges of aggravated identity theft, document fraud and firearms violations.
