Bush marks progress of library construction
Former President George W. Bush marks progress on construction of his library with ceremony
By The Associated Press

DALLAS (AP) ' Former President George W. Bush says a new presidential center in his name exceeds expectations.

Bush said at the ceremony Monday marking the placement of the center's last construction beam that the George W. Bush Presidential Center will be a place of learning and action. He says he walked through the building for the first time on Sunday.

About 600 people, including former first lady Laura Bush and members of the construction team, attended the "topping out" ceremony for the center, which will feature his presidential library and a policy institute.

The nearly 225,000-sq.-foot center is located on about 25 acres on the campus of Southern Methodist University. It's set to be completed in spring 2013.
