FEMA, USDA, Homeland Security heads will tour states affected by Irene on Tuesday
WASHINGTON (AP) ' Obama administration officials are traveling to North Carolina, Virginia, New Jersey, Connecticut and Vermont to survey damage and recovery efforts following Hurricane Irene.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will visit North Carolina and Virginia Tuesday. Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate will travel to Vermont and FEMA Deputy Administrator Richard Serino will visit Connecticut and New Jersey, also on Tuesday.
The officials will tour storm damage by helicopter and meet with local officials and first responders.
The hurricane moved up the East Coast over the weekend and has been blamed for the deaths of at least 40 people in 12 states.
