Cain, Romney tied in poll among Va Republicans
Herman Cain, Mitt Romney deadlocked among Virginia GOP voters in new poll; Rick Perry falls

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) ' Herman Cain and Mitt Romney are the favorites and Rick Perry has plunged sharply among Virginia Republicans in a new statewide poll.

The Quinnipiac University Poll released Tuesday shows Cain and Romney each favored by 21 percent of Republicans surveyed.

Perry fell from a clear lead at 25 percent in the same poll a month ago to 11 percent among 345 Republicans surveyed Oct. 5-9. Cain surged from 6 percent in September. The margin of sampling error among Republicans is plus or minus 5.3 percentage points.



In the overall poll of 1,495 registered voters, President Barack Obama's job approval remains low. In the 2012 U.S. Senate race, Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican George Allen are about even.

The overall margin of sampling error is plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
