Campaigns at Christmas looking more possible
Nevada's January caucuses may lead to campaigning over Christmas
By The Associated Press

EXETER, N.H. (AP) ' Nevada's jump ahead in the presidential nominating calendar is forcing new rounds of finger pointing and political threats. Some worry the biggest losers may turn out to be voters.

Nevada officials plan to hold their presidential caucuses on Jan. 14. That forces other states to rethink the timing of their own elections. And it's looking more and more likely that Iowa and New Hampshire could host the nation's first presidential contests in the midst of the coming holiday season.

That's a month sooner than expected. And it's unprecedented in the modern history of presidential politics.

Political observers say voters will have less time to learn about the candidates.

New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner says his state's primary could be in late December. Iowa's caucuses would be even earlier.
