By The Associated Press

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (AP) ' Authorities say a police chase in the U.S. ended when the suspect's car slammed into a house and came to rest on top of a sleeping man.

New Haven Police Officer David Hartman says 34-year-old Michael Sweat was pinned under the car early Tuesday, while the suspect fled.

Removing Sweat from under the car took about an hour. Hartman says he had second- and third-degree burns to his buttocks and lower extremities, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
