Loudest voices demanding action to stop African warlord belong to children
WASHINGTON (AP) ' The voices demanding that Congress stop the brutality of African warlord Joseph Kony belong to America's children. Just ask their parents.
Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware says his three children, ages 12 and 11, have asked him about Kony.
Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana says her 14-year-old daughter Mary Shannon insisted she watch a video about Kony's reign of terror, which includes killings and child abductions in the tens of thousands, girls turned into sex slaves and boys forced to fight as soldiers.
The 30-minute video on Kony released last month by the advocacy group Invisible Children went viral on the Internet. Actor-activist George Clooney says 100 million people now know the name of a war criminal who didn't know it before. "That's a good thing," says Clooney.
