Chilly storm moves through California
Chilly spring storm bringing rain showers, mountain snow to California through Friday evening
By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) ' Orange County firefighters have successfully rescued five people from rain-engorged creeks, with no serious injuries reported.

City News Service reports a homeless man was swept about two miles down a Stanton Creek before firefighters found him hanging on to a rock at about 1:45 p.m. Friday.

Capt. Marc Stone says he was pulled from the water without serious injury.

Firefighters responded to another rescue near the Verizon Amphitheater in Irvine after four contractors tried to drive through a flooded creek and were stranded.

Stone says firefighters were able to get the four out of the truck with the aid of a helicopter.

A tornado was also briefly spotted off the coast of San Clemente on Friday afternoon.
