China promises measures to attract private investment in energy, health, other key industries
BEIJING (AP) ¯¯¯ China's government says it will launch projects in energy, health and other fields to attract private investment as it tries to reverse an economic slump.
Monday's promise to open segments of the state-dominated economy wider to private investment comes amid a flurry of measures aimed at pulling China out of its deepest slowdown since the 2008 global crisis.
The announcement gave no details of possible new projects or how much the government might spend. But it said industries it will target include railways, health, finance, education and telecommunications.
