Claims NKorea paid for Pakistani nuclear know-how
Scientist claims NKorea paid $3M bribe to Pakistani military officials for nuclear technology
By The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) ' The Washington Post says the founder of Pakistan's nuclear bomb program is claiming that the North Korean government bribed top military officials in Pakistan to obtain access to sensitive nuclear technology in the late 1990s.

In a report on its website late Wednesday, the newspaper said Abdul Qadeer Khan (ahb-DOOL' kah-DEER' kahn) has made available documents he says support his claim that he transferred more than $3 million in payments by North Korea to senior officers in the Pakistani military. Khan says the Pakistani military later approved his sharing of technical know-how and equipment with North Korean scientists.

The Post says Khan released a copy of a 1998 letter purporting to describe the deal. Pakistani officials say it's a fake.
