Clarification: Nigeria-Aluminum story
ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) ¯¯¯ In a story July 9, The Associated Press reported that the Nigerian Supreme Court ruled that the 2007 sale of the state-owned Aluminum Smelter Company Of Nigeria to a Russian company was illegal. The story should have specified that the ruling was issued against the Bureau of Public Enterprises, a Nigerian government agency, rather than RUSAL, which is based in Moscow. The ruling said that BFI Group, the plaintiff, could purchase majority shares of ALSCON. RUSAL says no RUSAL entity was a party to the underlying case and the ruling does not affect the rights of RUSAL to its ALSCON asset.
