Copper mining heiress' jewelry going on the auction block in NYC
NEW YORK (AP) ' Art deco jewelry belonging to a late Montana copper mining heiress is going on the auction block in New York City.
Christie's says the jewelry of Huguette Clark is expected to fetch up to $12 million on April 17.
The auction house says it's believed the jewelry had been stored in a bank vault since the 1940s.
The sale includes signed pieces by Cartier and Tiffany. Highlights include a 9-carat pink diamond ring and a 20-carat D-color diamond ring.
The reclusive Clark was 104 when she died last year at New York's Beth Israel Medical Center.
Her father was Sen. William A. Clark. He built one of America's biggest fortunes of its day mining copper, building railroads and founding Las Vegas.
