Water bubble on court delays Andy Roddick-David Ferrer match at Armstrong Stadium
NEW YORK (AP) ' Andy Roddick's rain-delayed U.S. Open match against David Ferrer has been suspended again because of a problem with the court in Louis Armstrong Stadium.
After playing two games Thursday, Roddick pointed out a spot behind a baseline where water beneath the surface was coming up onto the court.
The fourth-round match was supposed to begin Tuesday but was postponed because of rain. On Wednesday, they managed to play for about 15 minutes before rain suspended play. They resumed Thursday with Roddick ahead 3-1, but at 4-2, they stopped. Roddick and Ferrer went to the locker room while workers attended to the trouble spot.
Three other matches, involving Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and John Isner, started under sunny skies at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
