Dallas Seavey wins Iditarod
At 25, Dallas Seavey is the youngest winner of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race

NOME, Alaska (AP) ' Dallas Seavey is the youngest winner ever of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Seavey, who turned 25 during this year's race, was the first musher to reach Nome, coming into to the Bering Sea coastal community at 7:29 p.m. Tuesday.

The nearly 1,000 mile race across Alaska began March 4 north of Anchorage for 66 teams. Ten have scratched.

The previous youngest winner was the race's only five-time champion who won his first Iditarod at the age of 26 in 1977. Rick Swenson, now 61, is in this year's race, and running in the middle of the pack.

Seavey's father, Mitch, won the race in 2004.

Two of 1978 winner Dick Mackey's sons have also won, Rick Mackey in 1983 and Lance Mackey from 2007-2010
