Dartmouth student's graphic allegations of 'dehumanizing' experiences put hazing in spotlight
HANOVER, N.H. (AP) ' Things have only gotten messier at Dartmouth College in the weeks since a former fraternity brother went public with hazing allegations involving swimming in and swallowing vomit.
Senior Andrew Lohse (LOWSH) brought the issue to the forefront in January, with a school newspaper column describing the "dehumanizing" experiences he witnessed at Sigma Alpha Epsilon. The college has now brought hazing charges against the fraternity and more than a quarter of its members, including Lohse.
Fraternity president Brendan Mahoney says all 27 students face identical charges, but none of the fraternity's current members were members in 2009 when Lohse was a pledge.
Dean of College Charlotte Johnson says the college is acting on specific information and isn't on a witch hunt.
