LOS ANGELES (AP) ' TV parents Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell of "Modern Family" are the first winner's at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards.

Bowen was named best supporting actress in a comedy series Sunday, and Burrell, who plays her husband on the show, won as best actor in the category.

Emmy host Jane Lynch, who won last year for "Glee," also was a nominee but lost to Bowen. Winner Burell's competitors included Jim Parsons of "Big Bang Theory," who took the trophy at last year's Emmy.
