Europe blazes in relay, but US dominates Duel
US cruises to easy win at Duel in the Pool; European women post fastest time ever in relay
By The Associated Press

ATLANTA (AP) ' The United States has cruised to a dominating win at Duel in the Pool, though the European women did post the fastest short-course time ever in the 400-meter freestyle relay.

Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark, Francesca Halsall of Britain, Aliaksandra Heresimenia of Belarus and Ranomi Kromowidjojo of the Netherlands won Saturday with a time of 3 minutes, 27.53 seconds. That was faster than the world record of 3:28.22, set by the Netherlands in 2008, but won't count as an official mark since the swimmers are from different countries.

The Americans won 22 of 30 events for a total of 181.5 points. The European all-stars finished with 80.5.

The U.S. has never lost in five appearances at Duel in the Pool, beating Australia three times and Europe in the last two.
