Ex-NY sportscaster admits child endangerment
Ex-sportscaster pleads guilty to child endangerment for NY encounter with underage prostitute
By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) ' A former New York City sportscaster has admitted to child endangerment for an encounter with a 14-year-old runaway prostitute.

Dr. Marvell Scott pleaded guilty Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. He admitted inappropriately touching the girl, saying he only later learned her age. His case will be closed without jail time or probation if he does 20 days of community service.

Lawyers Benjamin Brafman and John Pappalardo noted that Scott has always said he was not guilty of rape, the initial charge.

The incident took place in June 2008.

Scott left his job as a weekend sportscaster at WABC-TV in summer 2009 to pursue his medical career as a specialist in sports medicine.
