Ex-Texas official gets probation for retaliation
Ex-Texas county attorney convicted of retaliating against 2 nurses gets 10 years of probation
By The Associated Press

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) ' A former West Texas county attorney who retaliated against two nurses who made an anonymous complaint about a doctor to state medical regulators has been sentenced to 10 years of probation.

Judge Robert Moore also fined Scott Tidwell $6,000. As a condition of his probation, Tidwell must serve 120 days in jail.

Tidwell was convicted Monday of retaliating against the nurses, who complained to state regulators in 2009 that the doctor used herbal remedies and attempted to use hospital supplies to perform at-home procedures. The nurses were later fired and indicted.

Tidwell prosecuted one nurse, who was acquitted. Charges against the other were dropped.

Prosecutor David Glickler said in an email Tuesday that Tidwell is appealing his conviction but is still out as county attorney in Winkler County.
