Families say reputed Boston mobster's girlfriend will plead guilty, won't testify against him
BOSTON (AP) ' Family members of people allegedly killed by James "Whitey" Bulger (BUHL'-jur) say his longtime girlfriend will plead guilty to helping Bulger evade capture and won't testify against him at his trial.
The families' comments came after they met with prosecutors Monday to discuss the status of the case against Catherine Greig (grehg).
Greig was charged with conspiracy to harbor a fugitive after she was captured with Bulger in Santa Monica, Calif., in June after 16 years on the run together.
Tom Donahue, whose father was allegedly killed by Bulger in 1982, says prosecutors said Greig will plead guilty Wednesday to the harboring charge as well as conspiracy and identity fraud charges.
Donahue says prosecutors told the families that Greig won't testify against Bulger, who is charged for his alleged role in 19 murders.
