Camper blamed for starting Colorado wildfire with camp stove; Feds to pursue restitution
LIVERMORE, Colo. (AP) ' Federal authorities have blamed a Colorado man for starting a wildfire that has burned about 12 square miles in the northern part of the state.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says James J. Weber of Fort Collins started the fire with his camp stove on Monday.
Authorities say Weber attempted to stamp out the fire but then fled as the blaze spread.
The U.S. Forest Service has issued Weber a citation. He faces a $300 fine but the Forest Service will also pursue him for restitution.
Weber couldn't immediately be located for comment.
