Fire breaks out in upstate NY home, killing 4 people on 2nd floor believed to be kids or teens
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) ' A fire that broke out in an upstate New York home has killed four people believed to be either children or teenagers.
Rochester Fire Chief John Caulfield tells the Democrat and Chronicle (http://on.rocne.ws/x6CzLe ) that firefighters were called to the home at 1 a.m. Saturday to extinguish a pile of clothes that was burning on the sidewalk. But after dousing those flames, they discovered that a fire had also broken out in the small multifamily home.
The chief says firefighters rescued some occupants, but the fire spread so quickly that they couldn't reach people trapped on the second floor.
The chief says the four people who died were in their teens or younger. Four other people were taken to a hospital, some of them with burns.
The blaze is under investigation.
