Santa gets a little help making Christmas bright from some area families during half time of The Missouri Southern Men's Basketball Game. The Second Annual Toy Toss was held in the intermission of the game against Nebraska-Kearney. Fans brought stuffed animals and other soft toys to the game to throw onto the court during half time. MSSU Cheerleaders helped Salvation Army Volunteers collect the items, which will be given to families in need later this month. Last year, more than 260 toys were collected to be distributed to local families. Timothy Arr/Toy Tosser: "I mean it means the world you know being able to help kids. Just giving back to the community in any way that I can. It's always an honor to do that." Beckie Stearns/Coor Officer at The Salvation Army in Joplin: "Every kid needs a stuffed animal at Christmas. So to cuddle with and for to feel secure and we're just really excited about that." This year, The Salvation Army was able to collect 198 toys to give to area families.   [READ MORE]
