Florida college student pleads not guilty to threatening President Obama on Facebook posts
MIAMI (AP) ' A Miami college student accused of posting threats against President Barack Obama on Facebook has pleaded not guilty.
The plea was entered Friday in Miami federal court by 20-year-old Joaquin Amador Serrapio Jr. He faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors say Serrapio posted threats on Facebook in February around the time Obama was visiting the University of Miami to give a speech. Serrapio attends a different school, Miami-Dade College.
The Secret Service says in one post, Serrapio threatened to put a bullet in the president's head. Another asked if anyone wanted to help with an assassination of the president.
There is no indication Serrapio ever intended to carry out the threats, and his lawyer says Serrapio did not truly want to hurt the president.
