Joseph Mohbat, AP reporter who covered RFK's presidential campaign, dies at age 73
NEW YORK (AP) ' Former Associated Press political reporter Joseph Mohbat has died at age 73.
Wife Nancy Schuh (shoo) says he died of cancer Aug. 10 in Brooklyn.
Mohbat covered Sen. Robert F. Kennedy's bid for the presidency in 1968 and went on to become press secretary for the Democratic National Committee.
At the DNC, he was one of the first staff members to learn of the break-in at Democratic headquarters at the Watergate Hotel.
Mohbat joined the AP in Chicago in 1960 and transferred to Washington two years later.
He most recently worked as an attorney at the New York City Law Department. Survivors include his wife and son.
