Nevada backdrop: Missteps and party turmoil ahead of Saturday's GOP presidential caucuses
LAS VEGAS (AP) ' Nevada Republicans had hoped this year would give the party a chance at a prominent role in picking the GOP presidential nominee after things didn't go so smoothly four years ago.
But so far this year, little has gone as planned. It's now anyone's guess as to how soon a victor will be declared after GOP caucuses on Saturday.
While most of Nevada's counties will be finished with voting by noon, party officials won't release results until 5 p.m. Pacific time. Results from Clark County, the state's most populous and home to more than half of all Republicans, won't be announced until 7 p.m. at the earliest.
A special caucus also is being held late in the evening to accommodate Jewish voters who observe the Saturday Sabbath.
