Gingrich hopes a cyber-traditional hybrid campaign can build Iowa momentum for his bid
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) ' Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has little choice but to rely on momentum to carry him to victory in the Iowa caucuses.
Ahead in the Iowa polls, Gingrich is scrambling to build upon his skeleton campaign organization in a state where successful caucus candidates typically have employed well-built machines aimed at turning out supporters.
The former House speaker, back from the political dead after a summer campaign implosion, is hoping the typical rules don't apply to him, in a campaign that already has been far from typical.
Gingrich is pursuing traditional organizing with less than three weeks until the leadoff caucuses, but he says the Internet, his full-frontal attack on President Barack Obama and the timing of his rise can help him close the organizational gap.
